Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub | Review

This Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub is something that I picked up after reading about it on another blog (can't remember which one, sorry!). I was highly recommended so I thought I would give it a go, especially as I picked it up in the sale so it was only £2.63! It intrigued me that it was a lip product that you can eat.

Using your finger, you scrub your dry lips until you are satisfied with the smoothness. You then lick off any of the remaining product and apply lip balm. I have to say, it tastes really nice, and it works really well. My lips used to be quite chapped, especially in the winter, so this has really helped to smooth my lips. It is made with sugar, jojoba oil, salt, polenta, coconut oil and popping candy, and, as it says on the lid, it has a buttery, caramel taste and smell. It is also taking a lot of restraint to not just eat the whole pot! Like most Lush products, it has a use-by date, however, this one gives you a whole 14 months from when it was made. This is good as it is going to take me a while to get through it!

So, as with everything, it's not perfect. I has a down side too. Due to it's crumbly texture, it would be very difficult to take out and about. You need a mirror to hand to make sure you have licked it all off otherwise you run the risk of looking like you have just eaten a sugary donut! This means that, although it is great when I am at home, if I need to smooth my lips whilst out, I have to just apply a mountain of lip balm. 

Unfortunately, I got this particular product in the Lush January sales and it is now sold out, they do, however, do two other flavours which you can get your hands on. They are, Bubblegum and Mint Julips, so you can always give them a go!

In case you weren't aware, it's been snowing in England! This means that numerous schools have been shut, planes have been grounded, and there have been an abundance on snow-themed pictures on Facebook, Twitter etc. Snow, whatever your age, can be an exciting substance that makes you layer up and slide down hills on a sledge (or something that loosely represents one), and I am definitely one who enjoys the presence of the white stuff (cheeky). In light of this, I thought I would share my winter snaps with you. Enjoy!

Soap & Glory Obsession

As some people might know, I have a slight (and by slight, I mean massive) obsession with the Soap & Glory products. For those of you who don't know what Soap & Glory is, it's a company who sell products to keep you clean, such as body wash, and a small range of make-up, including lip glosses. This is sold in Boots so it is widely available. Today, I thought I would share with you my collection :)

Scrub your nose in it is a face wash which doubles as a face mask. You simply squirt a small amount on your fingers and massage your face with it. You can either just was it straight off, or, if you leave it on for about 3-5 minutes, it turns into an oil-absorbing, brightening, pore cleaning mask! I can't quite put my finger on what it smells of but all I can say is that it leaves my face feeling fresh and clean, and my skin is definitely thanking me as my face is a lot smoother.

The Sugar Crush range is definitely my favourite, largely because it smells amazing! It is made with Shea & cocoa nut balm, lime & almond oils and kiwi juice water. I use it after my baths and showers when I use the Sugar Crush Body Scrub (featured below) and it leaves my body silky smooth and smelling divine! It sinks in quite quickly and you don't have to use very much each time as it goes very far which means that this tub has lasted me a very long time!

I'm not particularly a fan of feet so when I saw this I was debating whether or not to buy it. However, I am so very glad I did as it leaves my feet ever so soft and nice smelling. The heel genius contains Allantoin, Glycerin, Macadamia Oil, Menthol, Bilburry, Orange & Lemon Fruit Acid Smoothers (half of those I swear are made up!). You just massage a generous layer onto clean feet before bet, slip cotton socks overtop and let it soak in while you sleep.

This is actually my second tub of the Sugar Crush Body Scrub as I love it so so much! It contains smashed brown sugar & sweet lime, almond oil & macadamia grains and you use it in the shower or bath 1-3 times a week, depending on how often you remember! I think this is my absolute favourite product of the whole Soap & Glory range as it smells so good and it keeps my skin silky smooth, especially when I use the Body Buttercream afterwards (featured above).

No one likes dirty hands, so I keep this hand gel in my bag and whip it out whenever I feel it necessary. Especially after travelling on public transport (which I don't do often) as you never know where other people's hands have been! It smells really nice and I am satisfied that my hand maid has killed off those nasty germs on my hands.

This is a small, handy bottle of shampoo that I can take on holiday with me. It has a fresh fruity fragrance and it is for all hair types. There's not really much I can say about this, other than it does what it says on the tin!

I am a massive fan of hand cream as I love my hands to be smooth and sweet smelling, therefore, I have a lot of it (4 or 5 tubes I think!). This one is made with shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallows and it is in a handy little tube to carry round with me for whenever I want to soften my hands.

As I have previously said, the Sugar Crush scent is my favourite, so it was a no-brainer for me to purchase the body wash. It is made with lime oil, coolcapsule x, kiwi juice water & a skin softening omega-rich veggie oil and it has a freshly-squeezed sweet lime fragrance. More often than not, I use all three of my Sugar Crush products together and I find myself smelling my skin as it really is lush!

I was lucky enough to receive this in my stocking (thanks Santa!) and I haven't used very much of it yet but so far, I am very happy with it. It contains peppermint essential oils, grapeseed EFAs, fruitliquid fig and orange waterjuice. It smells of cleanliness with notes of frozen yuzu, orange oil, green fig, and jungle pomelo essence.

Yes, I am aware I have a lot of different body washes, but this one isn't actually mine. My sister got this in her stocking (thanks again Santa!) but I decided to include it in my post as I do still use it. It is made with natural mandarin peel extract and bonus built-in body lotion. It smells really nice, however, I have been using my other shower gels so I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

I am a fan of bubble baths. I particularly love bubble baths with bath bombs, and bath salts, and scented candles, and whatever else I can find to plop into my bath. That's why purchasing this was oh so easy! This is made with lemon balm, mallow extracts, and moisture-magnetising skin conditioners. It smells lovely and I feel all calm whilst I am soaking in the bubble filled bath. What more could you ask for in a bubble bath?!

So there you have it, my complete collection of Soap & Glory. If I could, I would probably purchase the whole range of products and just use them all the time, however, there are a few things holding me back (mostly funds). These are things that I will probably buy over and over again as I value them highly!

New Years Goals!


It is already the 6th January and I haven't posted a blog for the new year yet so I thought I'd better get straight to it! I am aware that it has been a little while since my last post, (and I apologise for that) but I just haven't got round to doing one with all the chaos of Christmas :) What better way to start of the new year than to set myself some new years resolutions! I have, however, decided to call them 'goals' as resolutions are often things that last for a week before we give up on them! So here are my New Years Goals:

 Be more organised
I'm generally not too unorganised, however, there are a few aspects that I would like to concentrate on this year. The first is keeping my room tidy. There are occasions when the small pile of clothes on my floor builds up, and I am left with a floordrobe (basically the whole contents of my wardrobe, on my floor). It's not too much of a pain to tidy up so I want to make that little extra effort in making sure it stays tidy. The second is to be on time. I have a habit of being slightly late to things (my friends and my boss (oops!) can vouch for that), however, I am going to try to make sure I am on time, or early if I am feeling eager, to everything (or most things) this year.

 Complete my scrapbook
As I am on my gap year, I have tried to keep my mind active so that when it comes to uni, it's not too much of a shock to actually do some work! To do this, I have started a scrapbook full of facts about Geography (as that is the course I will be studying). It isn't finished yet so I am wanting to finish it before I go to uni, and if I remember, I will share some of my favourite facts with you.

 Prepare for University
This is quite a general goal as there is lots that it could cover! The main ones include; learn to cook! I wouldn't say I am a terrible cook, but I would like to be able to cook basic meals without looking at a recipe! Also, buy my stuff. There are lots things I will need to take to uni so I will have to do a massive (or probably several) shopping trip to buy all my essentials. This kind of comes into the first goal as it is me being organised for uni.

 Exercise more
The good old 'do more exercise' which is probably one of the most popular new years resolution, however, there is a reason for that! Because we have stuffed our faces over Christmas and are now realising how much we have actually eaten and how little we have exercised over the last month! My motivation this year, is the fact that I am going skiing for a week in February and that is very tiring!

 Save money
Another popular resolution as we are receiving bank statements and our hearts are sinking at how much we have spent on presents etc. This one also links back to my preparations for university as I am fully aware of how much I will need to support myself for 3-4 years, and therefore want to save as much as I can. This means I need to cut down on my shopping and get out of the mindset of 'I'm sure I need that'!

 Opt for the healthy option more often
Yes, this is partly 'eat more healthily', however, I have changed it so it is different (I promise!). What I mean is, not necessarily putting pressure on myself to always have a super healthy meal and then feel guilty when I help myself to chocolate (I can't help it! It's so tempting!), but to have salad every now and then, or to have an apple when I get hungry. I call it my relaxed diet :)

 Drink more water
If I am at home, unless I make myself a bottle of water and carry it around with me, I generally don't drink very much water. The tap seems so far away when I am in my room and I can never quite be bothered to get up and get a glass of water. So, this year, I am going to aim for 1.5-2 litres of water a day. Each day varies so however much water I drink, depends on what I am up to.

 Blog more!
Although I am relatively new to it, I have definitely been enjoying the whole process of blogging. Thinking up things to write about, taking cool pictures and laying it all out. I tend to have times where I am not 'in the mood' to blog, and that can result in a lack of posts. It is those moods which I would like to get over and write a lot more! So hopefully, you will be hearing a lot more from me in this next year :)

So those are the goals I have decided to set myself. I have already got started on some of them, my room is nice and tidy and I have done more in my scrapbook, I have learnt a few key cooking skills and I haven't bought anything (yet!). I have written a blog and I have picked many healthy options so far. YAY! I am really going to make the most of the rest of my gap year and the start of my uni life in 2013! Hopefully you have a great year and make the most of everything!
